DAAD Spring school in Geomtry and Visualization (10-13.04.2006)

The Bulgarian team participated in this year's Spring School hosted by the Free University of Berlin . More information about the program of the school can be found on the project webpage.

Kalin Georgiev and Trifon Trifonov from the Bulgarian's team contributed a talk to the spring school accompanied a hands-on exercise. The spring school students learned about a functional descriptive approach to developing interactive visualizations using JVF technology and systems for symbolic calculation. The lecture notes for the exercise as well as other materials about the spring school can be found here.

Electronic textbooks on geometry

Here in Sofia we are working on two electronic textbooks for compulsory courses for Mathematics and Computer Science students:

  • Differential Geometry - a compulsory course for 3rd year students in Mathematics. Also used in teaching Computer Methods in Geometry - an optional course for 1st year students in Computer Science.
  • Geometry - a compulosry course for 3rd year students in Computer Science, including some topics on analytical, projective and differential geometry.

Interactive geometry for schools

Cube and plane intersection

A demonstration of the "body and plane intersection" applet being developed by the Bulgarian team. Click here to see the demo. The applet will be able to demonstrate interactively the intersection of arbitrary three dimensional figure with a moving plane. The figure is defined by the set of its sides and the applet outlines the section figure in the 3D scene as well as a 2D projection of the section.

Sangaku

We have opened a new section with "Sangaku" problems.

Project presentation on seminars and conferences

International Annual Fair in Plovdiv (26.09-01.10.2005)

The project was presented on the International Exhibition of Information Technologies (INFOTECH) - a part of the annual International Technical Fair in Plovdiv. The Bulgarian activities on the project were codenamed INTERVISO ("Interactive visualizations in Mathematics and Computer Science education") and were presented on the special 4th Science & Education EXPO "Bulgarian Universities and Technological Incubators - a Center for Innovative ICT Developments". On 30th September the official selection procedure took place, performed by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Agency of ICT Development under the Ministry of Transport and Communications, UNDP Bulgaria, IDG Bulgaria. INTERVISO was awarded the first prize!

Here you can find advertising brochures (front, back), poster and pictures (1,2) from the Fair.
