| Abstract | Image quality degradation is one of the main problems in Digital Holography. A novel method for noise reduction based on the Hilbert-Huang transform is introduced that reduces the normalized contrast and partially removes the DC-term. It is successfully applied in the hologram plane and requires a single hologram to function. The method causes no reduction in spatial resolution. Moreover, it can be combined with existing noise-filtering methods to improve image quality even further. |
