The 2021 edition was held online on March 27 / Saturday / in Microsoft Teams and was opened by the Rector of Sofia University Prof. Anastas Gerdjikov. Nearly 100 participants attended the session, including colleagues from the National Center for Information and Documentation (NACID).
The Spring Scientific Session started with reports dedicated to the memory and work of the highly respected Bulgarian scientists and university professors Acad. Blagovest Sendov, Prof. Rumen Malev and Prof. Magdalina Todorova.
The plenary part continued with the most current and critical topic of the coronavirus infection: “COVID-19 - mathematical models and predictions. Open Science”. In addition, listeners could also join the discussion. The coronavirus disease reports showed once again the desire of the academic staff of FMI for research contribution to the most current topics of global importance.
The afternoon part of the Spring Scientific Session went on with 10 parallel sessions in the fields of mathematics, informatics and information technologies. The activity results of the big project "Universities for Science, Informatics and Technologies in the e-Society" (UNITe) and the research of the Big Data for Smart Society Institute (GATE) were also discussed.
