On December 22 2023, the opening ceremony of the new building of the Centre of Excellence "Universities for Science, Informatics and Technology in the e-Society" (UNITE) took place at the Lozenets Campus of Sofia University "St. Kl. Ohridski". The new research complex is funded under the project BG05M2OP001-1.001-0004 UNITE of the Operational Programme "Science and Education for Smart Growth", priority axis 1 - "Scientific Research and Technological Development", within the procedure BG05M2OP001-1.001 "Establishment and Development of Centres of Excellence".
The opening ceremony was attended by the Rector of Sofia University Prof. Dr. Georgi Valchev, prof. Anastas Gerdzhikov - Rector of the Alma Mater in the period 2015-2023, Prof. Dr. Georgi Vaisilov - Executive Director of the Executive Agency "Program for Education", Deputy Minister of Education and Science prof. Genka Petrova-Tashkova, Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth prof. Georgi Angelov, Mayor of Lozenets Konstantin Pavlov, deans of faculties of Sofia University, lecturers, students and guests.
